dc.description.abstract The subject of discussion of this article is an analytical history of the philosophical and scientific inquiry of acquisition of language by the human child. The article aims to follow the centuries-long continuity of theoretical and empirical investigations — setting off from the ancient Western and Indian thoughts —concerning human language acquisition, and find out its most recent direction. The discussion has made an effort to shed light on the question, namely, whether the opposing ideas of Nativism and Empiricism/Behaviorism can be combined with regard to language acquisition. en_US
